(CBS 11 News) Record high temperatures statewide triggered rolling blackouts across the state of Texas.

DFW Airport recorded a high of 101 degrees Monday. That's the highest temperature ever recorded at the airport in the month of April.

TXU Electric Delivery, which transmits and distributes electricity to much of North Texas, says it is conducting rolling blackouts in specific areas.

TXU says at 4:24 this afternoon, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas System moved to its highest emergency level and asked power companies to reduce the load on the system. ERCOT manages the electrical grid for 75% of the state.

TXU says the rolling blackouts were 15 minutes long. As of 7:20 pm ERCOT declared the statewide emergency over and the ERCOT system was operating normally.

A cooling trend, improved power availability and the cooperation of ERCOT members, including TXU Electric Delivery, returned the state’s electric system to normal.
